Hedgehogs are small animals with lots of stiff, spiky spines. They are found in: woodlands, hedges and sometimes in gardens.

They poke around in the soil to find food when it goes dark and make a lot of noise. They like to eat: insects, plants and mice.

When they are threatened and feel frightened, they can curl up into a prickly ball to protect themselves.
