What happens on Remembrance Day?

Special services are held at war memorials and churches all over Britain on Remembrance Day. A national ceremony takes place in London at the Cenotaph.

People lay poppy wreaths and small wooden crosses beside war memorials in remembrance of family members who have died in wars.

At 11 o’clock everybody takes part in a two minute silence as a tribute to those who have lost their lives and to those who are still fighting for their country.
